Dorna Sports confirmed today that it has reached an agreement with the AB Groupe and Eurosport France to screen MotoGP across France until 2011. The commercial and television rights-holders to the MotoGP World Championship announced that coverage will be shared across two channels; digital-terrestrial channel NT1 and cable-satellite channel Eurosport France. The three-year agreement will see NT1 broadcasting all 18 MotoGP races live throughout the season, including a pre-show for each race. Meanwhile, Eurosport France will focus on offering practice and qualifying sessions on Friday and Saturday, followed by all three races live on Sunday. Each channel will create its own individual programme for the events. NT1 is one of the top three DTT channels in France battling for supremacy in the new digital age. It is targeted mainly at a general audience between the ages of 15 and 49, and on a weekly basis the channel boasts nearly twenty million viewers, with figures consistently on the increase. Eurosport France is a dedicated service from the pan-European broadcaster to French territory and reaches 6.6 million homes, making it the most popular cable-satellite channel in terms of audience in the country. Richard Maroko, AB Group’s General Manager of Progammes, commented, “We are thrilled to be broadcasting one of the motorsport’s major competitions.” Patrick Goddet, Deputy Managing Director – Eurosport France, remarked, “MotoGP is a premium right registered in Eurosport’s genetic code and viewers are very passionate about this extremely spectacular discipline. We are very proud to have concluded this new agreement with Dorna for the next 3 seasons. We will offer our subscribers exhaustive coverage of the 3 championship categories; MotoGP, 125cc and 250cc.”
