Dr. Raymond Rossi Set For All MotoAmerica Rounds

Motorsports Doctor Will Travel With The Series

COSTA MESA, CA, MAY 4 – Turns out that MotoGP isn’t the only racing series with a Doctor Rossi. Thanks to a commitment from MotoAmerica, riders who suffer injury or illness at any of the 2015 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Race Series rounds will get care from a familiar face: Dr. Raymond Rossi.

Rossi, who has served as the FIM Chief Medical Officer in World Superbike and MotoGP at the U.S. rounds at both Miller Motorsports Park and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, will attend all of the MotoAmerica rounds. He began his service to MotoAmerica’s racers and teams at the Road Atlanta round, April 17-19.

“I have been committed to motorcycle medical care for over 20 years,” said Rossi. “It is a privilege to be given an opportunity to serve this very noble group of athletes. It will be my goal to bring the highest level of medical care to the MotoAmerica riders, both trackside and in the paddock. I am grateful to be a part of a new direction for American road racing led by KRAVE, and I applaud their vision.”

MotoAmerica is thrilled to have someone with Dr. Rossi’s credentials to head up the medical direction of its series.

“Having Dr. Rossi on board shows a commitment to our racers that we care about their health and safety,” said MotoAmerica President and three-time 500cc World Champion Wayne Rainey. “This was something we’ve always thought to be crucial. Rider safety is paramount and having a doctor there that you know and trust gives everyone in the paddock confidence and a level of comfort. Dr. Rossi is that guy.”

From a rider’s standpoint, there’s nothing better than seeing a familiar face in a time of need.

“For me it’s nice to have a doctor there who understands sports and racing,” said Yoshimura Suzuki’s Roger Hayden. “A lot of times you see a normal doctor and they don’t realize what motorcycle racing is. For me it gives me confidence knowing that we have a guy like Dr. Rossi there who understands racing and if he says you can’t ride, you have confidence that his judgement is good because he understands the sport and it’s probably best that you don’t ride. It’s really cool that MotoAmerica has stepped up and provided us with the same doctor for every race who we can develop a relationship with over the course of the year. MotoGP, World Superbike, Supercross… they all have the same doctors at every round. They start to know you and overall it’s just safer for everybody. It’s just another step in the right direction.”
