Beck, 84 More, from a press release issued by American Suzuki: Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s West Podiums in Miller Supersport Race Teammate Young puts in heroic ride but suffers a mechanical Round 5 AMA Supersport Series Tooele, Utah Miller Motorsports Park May 29 June 1, 2008 Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Cory West celebrated his first-ever AMA Supersport podium as well as his best AMA finish ever, thanks to a third-place result in Sunday’s race. West got a good start on his M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R600 and worked his way up into an impressive fourth place in the nine-lap race. M4 EMGO Suzuki teammate Blake Young, meanwhile, had been having a great race running with the top-three and even leading the race at one point when his bike experienced problems. With Young fading, West took over the final podium spot. Young finished in sixth position. In the overall championship points standings, Young is in fourth place and West is in seventh. Cory West: “I just went out and rode my own race on the M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R600. I got in with a few guys and we were riding pretty hard and then some of them made some mistakes or crashed out and I worked my way into fourth. Then, on the last lap I looked up on the Jumbotron and saw my teammate Blake coasting. I knew he’d been battling for a podium spot, so I just rode as hard as I could. Thanks to everyone who’s given me a chance and thanks to all the fans for coming out this weekend.” Team Manager Keith Perry: “All we know is that the dash electrics are showing signals uncommon to normal bike operation. The bike did have fuel in it. Now it’s up to us to diagnose the problem. It was a real heart-breaker for the kid.”
