Drew Jankord Stars During CCS Event At Blackhawk Farms Raceway

© 2019, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc. From a press release issued By ASRA/CCS:.

Drew Jankord displayed his versatility winning multiple races on his Kawasaki ZX-10R and Ninja 400 in wet and dry conditions at the penultimate round of the Championship Cup Series’ (CCS) Midwest region this past weekend, Aug 17-18, on the 1.95 mile, seven turn course of Blackhawk Farms Raceway, in South Beloit, Illinois.

Early Sunday the skies turned dark and a torrential downpour saturated the track during morning practice. However, as the day went on, the track dried up and racers were treated to a sunny afternoon with great track conditions. In the Unlimited category Jankord went undefeated and set the fastest lap of the weekend, a 1:09.511, riding his Motorcycle Supply supported Kawasaki ZX-10R on Pirelli tires. The premier race of the weekend, Unlimited GP, saw Zac Schumacher take the early lead with Jankord and Tom Girard close behind. On lap three, Jankord took the lead heading into turn one. Wasting no time, Girard moved under Schumacher two turns later and latched onto the rear Jankord. The two pulled away from the rest of the field, and Jankord held the lead to finish the race ahead of Girard a scant 0.284 seconds at the line. In the amateur ranks Bradley Elrod set the pace on his Kawasaki ZX-10R winning Unlimited Supersport and Unlimited Superbike.

Nate Minster won all five of his races and set the quickest Middleweight lap time of 1:09.621 riding his TSE Racing backed Yamaha YZF-R6 on Michelin tires. Ricardo Valdez won the 25 minute GTU race on his Dunlop equipped Yamaha YZF-R6. For the amateurs, Kyle Haltinner went undefeated aboard his Yamaha YZF-R6 and recorded the fastest amateur lap time of a 1:13.382

In the Lightweight expert division there were several winners, but none more impressive than “retired” racer Kevin Van Engen. Van Engen set a blistering fast pace in the 1:12s and took victories in Lightweight Superbike and Lightweight GP on his Pirelli shod Suzuki SV650. In the Amateur category Ike Ozurumba led the field, racking up four wins on his Bridgestone mounted Suzuki SV650.

For the Ultra-light races, Jankord and Damian Jigalov both stood on the top step riding their Pirelli backed Kawasaki Ninja 400s. Jigalov won the 25 Minute GT500 race and Jankord took the checkers in 500 Supersport and 500 Superbike.

The final round of CCS Midwest region will be held at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, Illinois, www.asraracing.com or www.ccsracing.us or call us at (817) 246-1127. Join CCS and ASRA in the greatest road racing experience available today!
