G DATA to provide IT security for the Ducati Team in 2016 MotoGP

G DATA, the German software house focussing on Internet security and antivirus products, has become a Technical Partner of Ducati Corse for the 2016 MotoGP World Championship. With this accord, G DATA has the task of protecting the Borgo Panigale team’s IT systems against on-line threats for the entire world championship season, which gets underway on 20th March at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar.

Under the terms of the accord, G DATA will provide virus protection for the Ducati Team’s data servers, which are vital equipment for the team’s trackside activities. These computers in fact manage the storage of sensitive data accumulated during test sessions and race weekends, synchronize data acquisition with servers back in the company and allow the technicians at the track to carry out data processing and race simulations in real time.

“Protecting the integrity of critical and itinerant data and systems is a real challenge; we must guarantee their security with solutions and policies that can be adapted to the different networks that the team will find at the various rounds of the MotoGP World Championship, and manage, even from a distance, all the information, the updates and log data entries in a timely way in order to guarantee an uninterrupted service; this is a challenge that we are honoured to accept”, declared Giulio Vada, Country Manager of G DATA Italia.

“The rapport with G DATA came about several years ago, and in time there have been a number of opportunities for contact with and appreciation of the manufacturer’s IT security solutions, opportunities that have also contributed to the start of a relationship of mutual respect and trust in the G DATA team. As a result we are happy to be able to include the company in our list of technical partners for MotoGP in 2016”, added Roberto Canè, Electronics Systems Manager of Ducati Corse.

The partnership with Ducati will also involve a series of joint activities for both companies over the coming year.
