Rediscovering the Podium 17 August 2010 Round 5 of the Viking Australian Superbike Championship looms large and the Ducati Motologic Racing Team enters the event with one goal in mind; to rediscover the podium. It was a very mixed event at Queensland Raceway in June which saw #27 Jamie Stauffer leading the timesheets in practice and recording the fastest lap time in Race 1 only to DNF both races in separate incidents. #33 Jordan Burgess faired better than his team mate overall, finishing 11th in Race 1, and 16th in Race 2. The general consensus from the weekend for the developing Ducati Team Return to Qld Raceway for round 5 and get back on the podium. The Factory Ducati team took advantage of the gap between events to test the Ducati 1198R at Winton Raceway in July. Both riders were extremely happy with the progress achieved. #27 Jamie Stauffer: “The bike set-up is the best it has been all year. I am excited to have the chance to return to Qld and put myself back in the competition. I was really keen to go to Winton after Round 3 to test the changes made by the team and I wasn’t disappointed. Bike Development has definitely paid off as the 1198R set-up is where it needs to be to head back to Qld Raceway and get back to business.” Any issues Stauffer may have had in June appear to be a distant memory as he focuses on stepping onto the podium once again. Stauffer’s team mate #33 Jordan Burgess has had a huge year as the rookie rider in a development team and remains determined to improve his standing in the championship. #33 Jordan Burgess: “I’m pleased to be returning to Qld Raceway for Round 5 as it gives me a terrific opportunity to improve on my results and apply all that I learned from the previous round at the circuit. I had a reasonable result at the last round, but having experienced a top 10 result already this year I am keen to be back up there at the business end. The test at Winton enabled us to really get on top of the bike set-up and I have been really focused on my own preparation going into Round 5 so I feel quietly confident that I can achieve my goals at this event.” Round 5 of the Australian Superbikes will be exciting both on and off the track next weekend with a lot more entertainment for spectators including Supermoto and Freestyle MX. The Ducati Motologic Race Team will have a huge private corporate marquee situated on the hill at turn 1 for race day so they are eager to impress and determined to put them back into the championship. Team Manager Paul Free believes his team will do just that. Paul Free: “The gap between events has been extremely beneficial for us particularly after the last round. The test was crucial and we are really pleased with the outcome. It is important for us to return to Qld Raceway for round 5 and get the results we know are possible. I know Jordan wants to finish back in the top 10 which he is more than capable of doing and after a frustrating weekend at Qld in June, Jamie is a long way back in points and in the championship so now our only focus is to win races.” Round 5 of the Viking Australian Superbike Championship will be held at Qld Raceway on August 20th- 22nd.
