DUCATI HOLDS NEW YORK CITY UNVEILING PARTY FOR “NEW BLUE” Cupertino, CA Ducati North America announces the exclusive North American unveiling party for “New Blue,” a highly modified and customized racing motorcycle that was commissioned by Ducati North America and developed by NCR. The party will take place at Ducati New York on January 18, 2007, on the eve of the New York City Cycle World International Motorcycle Show. There will be a VIP presentation at 6:30pm and the party will begin at 7:00pm. In attendance at the party will be many special guests and key people who brought the project to life, including former Cycle Magazine Editor Cook Neilson; Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America; Michele Poggipolini, CEO of NCR; and Joe Ippoliti, COO of NCR. In late summer of 2006, Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling were invited as special guests to the annual Ducati dealer meeting. During this time, they were inducted into the DNA Hall Of Fame for their victory at Daytona in 1977. While attending the ceremony, Cook and Phil met the team behind NCR and the idea to build a special motorcycle in commemoration of the victory was born. The “New Blue” project began life as a standard Ducati SportClassic Sport 1000 S. The bike was pulled straight off the factory assembly line in Bologna and sent across town to the NCR race shop, where it received a complete makeover. NCR used their more than 30 years of racing experience to remove an astounding eighty four pounds of dry weight and add an additional 30 horsepower to the motorcycle. This was achieved by the usage of lightweight materials such as titanium, carbon fiber and magnesium throughout the project. The revised engine output is 116hp at 8450rpm. New Blue is completed with a titanium plate bearing the signatures of both Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling. The motorcycle will be handmade to order and carries an MSRP of $49,900. New Blue will be available through select NCR dealers. Following the party, “New Blue” will be on display throughout the weekend in the Ducati booth at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show along with the exciting new 1098 Superbike, Desmosedici RR street legal grand prix machine and Hypermotard adventure bike.
