Buffalo, NY: With the recent launch of Flat Track Futures, an AMA sanctioned amateur flat track series run by American Flat Track professional Johnny Lewis, a new era of support has been developed for the amateur flat track community. A partnership with Dunlop Motorcycle Tires and Flat Track Futures has come together to provide amateur flat track racers tire support for the 2020 season, a program known as Team Dunlop in the motocross community.
Now in its 13th year, the Team Dunlop amateur motocross support program has successfully helped many team riders make a transition to the professional ranks, including riders such as Justin Barcia, Eli Tomac, Blake Baggett, Ashley Fiolek, Justin Bogle, Justin Hill, Adam Cianciarulo, Jessy Nelson, Austin Forkner, Jordan Bailey, Garrett Marchbanks, Chase Sexton and Joey Savatgy. Dunlop hopes the new Team Dunlop amateur program will assist riders in their journey to the professional ranks, just as their motocross alumni have over the years.
“We welcome Team Dunlop to the flat track community. I’ve been following the Team Dunlop program since the beginning in 2007,” stated Johnny Lewis, founder of Flat Track Futures. “I have always admired the results they produce on the track but also amazed by the content they produced and how they represent their Team Dunlop Elite riders so well. A lot of my ambition to develop an amateur series like Flat Track Futures came from Team Dunlop’s program over the years. I’ve always wanted to showcase the future stars of our sport like they do. Now we have that opportunity, and I couldn’t be more excited.”
The Team Dunlop Flat Track program will kick off at the inaugural Dunlop Tire Florida Fall Classic October 18 – 19 at Volusia Speedway Park just outside Daytona Beach Florida during the 27th running of Biketoberfest. Riders will be given the chance to earn the first 2 of 10 Team Dunlop Elite sponsorships for the 2020 season. As a member in the Team Dunlop Elite program, riders will receive unique benefits including but not limited to: free allocated tire supply from Dunlop, inclusion in a national Dunlop ad and press release, listed on the Team Dunlop website, exclusive Team Dunlop apparel, Dunlop Canopy, Dunlop Tire Stickers, special services at Flat Track Futures along with additional amateur national events, social media features and possible tire testing opportunities in the future.
During the 2019 Dunlop Tire Florida Fall Classic, the winner of the Amateur 250 and Amateur 450 classes will be awarded the first two Team Dunlop Elite program sponsorships. Riders must actively run Dunlop tires with Dunlop Tire stickers at the event to be qualified for this program. The remaining eight Team Dunlop Elite sponsorships will be selected in a few unique ways this 2019/2020 winter.
Additionally, Team Dunlop will be watching results and gathering information on all riders at the Flat Track Futures event as well as additional top amateur events across the US for the remainder of the 2019 season. Within the next few weeks, Dunlop will announce how racers can apply for sponsorship opportunities and when they will begin accepting applications.
