FEATURED IN THE JULY 2018 ISSUE OF ROADRACING WORLD…
“There’s a plunge at the end of the back straightaway at Chuckwalla when it’s run in the clockwise direction, Turn 11, demanding no small amount of faith in the tires when taken at speed. Running steeply downhill at 18 degrees, the track flicks from right to left and the rider chases front-end grip in the Turn 12 left-hander as the speed picks up. At the exit, the demand for traction shifts to the rear as the rider opens the throttle to the stop and heads toward Turn 13, a.k.a The Bowl — 811 feet of asphalt laid on a 274-ft radius and banked 10 degrees –centripetal force pushing the bike into the pavement. For the rider, the forces make it a struggle to crank the head hard to the right and look all the way through the corner to the exit, where the asphalt flattens just as the rider is trying to pour as much power through the rear tire as possible.
“It is a challenging series of corners, a real test of a number of a tire’s characteristics in 1820 feet, and a perfect place to put Dunlop’s newest Sportmax tire to the test…”
-Michael Gougis, Editor At Large, in the July 2018 issue of Roadracing World
