Dwyer, Kelsey, Fouchek – Saturday’s Top Finishers For Pirelli/WERA Southeast Sportsman Series at NOLA Motorsports Park

Sean Dwyer took his KWS backed, Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000 to a decisive win in the Formula 1 race during the Pirelli/WERA Southeast Sportsman Series at NOLA Motorsporst Park this past Saturday afternoon, June 30, 2012. Racing WERA’s first event at the 2.75-mile track, Dwyer narrowly held off Tim Bemisderfer for the win in Formula 1, who was aboard his Dunlop-shod, Vesrah Suzuki-backed Suzuki GSX-R1000.

In the very hot and humid conditions of the Southern Louisiana Gulf Coast, Dwyer turned a fastest lap of 1.44.958 en route to the win in the six-lap event, crossing the line a mere .310 ahead of Bemisderfer. Bemisderfer turned a fastest lap of 1:44.189, but couldn’t outpace Dwyer. Bemisderfer pulled a 2 second lead on Luis Zendejas, however, relegating him to third on his Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000.

Ryan Kerr, James Dellinger, David Brown, Nikk Rogers, Justin Neyra, Craig Montgomery, and Rune Medhus rounded out the top 10.

Danny Kelsey took the wins in B Superstock and B Superbike, turning a fastest lap of 1:46.238 on his Michelin-shod Suzuki GSX-R750. Kelsey had this to say, “ The track was a lot fun, very high speed and far different from what we usually race, because we normally don’t race such smooth track. Bike set up got dialed in fairly quickly, and I had a really great weekend, especially considering we just decided to run this weekend on Tuesday. I would really like to thank my sponsors; KMC Controls, Komodo, Lone Star Track Days, GP Suspension, Dynojet, DP Brakes, LP Racing, Hotbodies, Arata, Penske, Vortex, WRW Racing, Sam’s Cycle Salvage, Michelin, and Island Racing Services for their continued support.”

Texan Shea Fouchek was the big winner in the middleweight classes, sweeping the C Superstock and C Superbike races, running a fastest lap of 1:45.893 aboard his Yamaha YZF-R6. Fouchek had this to say, “I had a great weekend at the WERA event at NOLA Raceway. The track was extremely fast and flowing, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My tuner, Brandon Spradling and I found a working set up for the bike early on Friday and after that point, I was able to concentrate on chasing fast lap times. I felt so comfortable in both races on Saturday. It was a phenomenal weekend and I couldn’t have asked for much more. A huge thank you to Steve Upchurch for his last minute motor build to get me up and running in time. Additional thanks to P1 Racing, Ohlins, Pirelli, South Central Race Center, Ballistik Motorcycle Apparel and Colin Edwards’ Texas Tornado Boot Camp.”

Top novices from Saturday were Christopher Crosslin, taking three wins in with his Suzuki SV650 in Formula 2 Novice, Lightweight Twins Superstock Novice, and Lightweight Twins Superbike Novice. Daniel Earnest won both C Superbike Novice and C Superstock Novice with his Yamaha 599.

On behalf of our racers, WERA would like thank our 2012 Sponsors including: Michelin, Pirelli, Lucas Oil, Ridersdiscount.com, and TOBC.
