AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike racer Elena Myers is planning to have surgery on her fractured right collarbone June 25 and is hoping to return to action July 12-14 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Round Four of the 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing series. Myers crashed her Castrol/Apex Manufacturing Triumph Daytona 675R during provisional Daytona SportBike qualifying June 21 at Barber Motorsports Park. She had X-rays taken at the track’s medical center and at a local urgent care facility, and both sets of X-rays confirmed she had broken her right collarbone. The 19-year-old California native, who now resides in Alabama, plans to fly to California today and have surgery Tuesday at the hands of Dr. Maury Harwood. Myers said Dr. Harwood, who has seen her X-rays, will plate the fracture, which will enable her to try to ride at Mid-Ohio.
