ELLISON RETURNS AS JG SPEEDFIT KAWASAKI SET SIGHTS ON BSB SHOWDOWN

02 September 2015 – The JG Speedfit Kawasaki team will be back to full strength at Oulton Park this weekend, as James Ellison makes his racing comeback from injury, to partner James Westmoreland. With three races over the weekend, Ellison will be looking to cement his position in the all-important top six and secure his place in the MCE British Superbike Championship Showdown.

With Oulton Park marking the final round of the ‘main’ MCE British Superbike Championship, the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team return to the Cheshire circuit with James Ellison and James Westmoreland ready to secure a Showdown position. Despite missing four races following a high-speed crash at Thruxton which saw him break his wrist, Ellison still remains third in the Championship standings and three strong rides at Oulton will ensure the star secures his position as a Title Fighter. Continuing to progress forward on the Kawasaki ZX-10R, Westy heads to Oulton Park ready to help Ellison and fight for another podium.

A fast and flowing circuit, Oulton Park is a favourite for both fans and riders and the three race format, will ensure a packed crowd. On the first visit here in May, Ellison narrowly missed out on victory, but a podium finish was enough to give him the series lead whilst Westy enjoyed his first point scoring rides of the year.

Excited to get back out on his JG Speedfit Kawasaki ZX-10R, James Ellison said “I’m still not 100% perfect, but the cast is off and it’s a lot better than it was at Cadwell Park – although it does still feel like it’s mending! The goal this weekend is to stay in the Showdown, which I think we can do if we can get three strong rides under our belt.

Having the data from May should make things a little easier, as hopefully we can focus on getting a race pace set-up. Oulton is a great circuit and one I really enjoy, and although we didn’t have a great race one compared to our standards last time, the guys were able to turn it around for the second race and we were only a few tenths off the win. We might not be able challenge the very front guys until I’m fully fit, but I’m confident we’ll have the pace to be towards the front.”

Looking forward to returning to Oulton Park, James Westmoreland added, “Historically, Oulton Park has always been a pretty good circuit for me so I always look forward to going there. I’m excited to go back this weekend as I’m really keen to see how much we’ve improved since our last visit. Back in May it wasn’t our best showing but since then we’ve made some big changes and I’m now confident we can be pushing towards the front.

We’re heading towards the crunch time of the season so it’s important that we push for the final few rounds to get the best results possible. With three races here this weekend I’m confident that we’ll be able to build on the settings from May, get a good qualifying position and then hopefully challenge for the podium!”

JG Speedfit Kawasaki Team Principal Mark Smith-Halvorsen added, “Oulton Park is going to be a very important round for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team as we aim to secure our position in the Showdown. Despite the injuries that James has suffered this season, from his broken ribs suffered at Snetterton and then missing four races through a broken wrist, he still sits in third place in the standings which is a testament to how strong a start to the season we had. Now after healing, he returns to Oulton ready to be competitive once again and to get our Championship challenge back on track.

Westy has found speed again and there is no reason why he can’t find consistency too – I’m confident we’ll see him running at the front again this weekend. His podium at Thruxton demonstrated he has the pace to fight with the top boys and he needs to remind people of what he is capable of this weekend at Oulton Park, a track he likes”
