On Monday and Tuesday, July 14 and 15, Gavin competed in the WERA National round at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. This being his first time ever at the track we weren’t expecting much out of the first day. Going into the first practice of the day the track was slick do to the morning fog, making it difficult to learn the track. Lap times were around 1.40.0. After the track warmed up Gavin was able to drop into the 1:35s by the end of the last practice session. It was very important for Gavin to get on the pace quickly since this was a double round and an opportunity to make up points on the championship leader. His first race was the 600 superstock race where he lined up 3rd. With a good start Gavin was into 2nd at the first turn, he followed the leader for a couple of laps before making the pass for the lead and going on to win the race with a fast lap of a 1:31.9 and a gap of 1.3 seconds to second place.

The 750 superstock race was next up where he again started from 3rd, quickly worked his way to the front and brought home another win.

Tuesday brought even more good results when in the 600 superstock race Gavin started from 3rd and after a hard fought battle with two of the top riders, Gavin pulled off the win with a .04 gap between himself and 2nd place. He had a fast lap of 1:31.6.

The 750 superstock race was another repeat, Gavin started 3rd and won again with the fastest lap of the race at 1:31.0.

After the weekend Gavin has closed up the championship by a few more points. He also upped his record to 8 consecutive wins with an overall record of 12 wins, and 4 second place finishes out of 16 races in 2014.

“I feel very fortunate to be performing at the level that I am,” Gavin said. “There is some amazing competition out there and I would like to thank them and I would like to thank all of my sponsors, Lenny Albin with NitronUSA, James Richards at Kabuto Helmets, James Bock and Pirelli Tires, Michael Godin at KWS, Vortex, Woodcraft, Motul, VP Race Fuels, Sidi boots, Ballistik Apparel, Impact Safe-t Armor, Zero Gravity, Papa E, Mike Coleman, Attorney at Coleman Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina, and all of his family and friends who have supported him this year! Thanks everybody!”
