Thanks to its involvement with the new FIM MotoE World Cup racing series, Energica Motor Company has gained a lot of attention as an elite manufacturer of high-performance, zero-emission (a.k.a. electric) motorcycles.  But what is Energica?

Is it just another technology startup company developed by some young computer code writer looking to attract investors and then cash out at the first opportunity? Not even close. To understand Energica one has to look at the history of its parent company, CRP Group, which traces its roots back to post-World War II Italy. That’s when CRP Group founder Roberto Cevolini’s father, Salvatore, an avid inventor, developed a machine that could refurbish bricks from bombed-out buildings so the bricks could be re-used to rebuild a devastated Italy.

Roberto Cevolini inherited his father’s innovative spirit and in 1970 started Roberto Cevolini & Co., which focused on machining high-precision parts for Formula One racing teams including Ferrari, which was located just 15 minutes away in northern Italy’s renowned ‘motor valley’ . . .

Zero-emission road racing technology may just be hitting the Grand Prix stage, but the company behind the MotoE World Cup racebikes is no newcomer to racing. Energica traces its roots to Formula One and success in the CIV/Italian National Championship and the TTXGP electric racebike series.
