From a press release issued by Cartersport: Following on from last season racing in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, 18-year-old Tommy Bridewell has secured a deal to race in not one, but two major European Championships in 2008. The Devizes, Wiltshire rider will contest the Italian Superbike Championship armed with a pair of Suzuki GSX-R1000 K7’s and as well as that, he’ll be gunning for glory in the Suzuki GSX-R 750 European Cup where he’ll be taking on some of the best up-and-coming riders in the world. With sponsorship via the 3F company’s Naturally Best brand, the 2008 campaign will see an entirely new team based in Italy with the same Italian staff who worked on his late brother Ollie’s bikes in his successful 2005 Superstock team, Sallustio (Ross) Fusco and Giuseppe (Peppe) Foglia. Bridewell, a former runner up in the Virgin Mobile Cup, will be using the latest Dunlop tyres supplied by the former BSB team headed by Phil Plater and Pat Walsh as well as having access to a number of parts from the former Team NB’s spares and electronics inventory. Other trade sponsors include Maxima Racing Oils and Adriani Suspension. In the Suzuki GSX-R 750 European Cup, which supports a number of World Superbike Championship rounds including Donington Park in September, Bridewell is expected to be a major contender, having previously finished on the podium back in 2006 on his debut at Silverstone. “After all that went on last year and a poor season all round, I’m delighted to be racing again and I can’t wait to get cracking. We are looking at going World Championship racing next season so a year in Europe, based in Italy, will do us all good and it’s great to be working with Ross and Peppe again. I’m going out to win the Italian Superbike Championship as well as the Suzuki GSX-R Cup and after testing last week, I’m happy to announce that the ‘old’ Tommy Bridewell is back and ready to kick some serious ASS!” Italian Superbike Championship 20th April Mugello 4th May Monza 25th May Vallelunga 27th July Misano 28th Sept Misano 19th Oct Mugello Suzuki GSX-R750 European Cup 6th April Valencia, Spain 11th May Monza, Italy 15th June Nurburgring, Germany 29th June Misano, Italy 7th Sept Donington Park, GB 5th Oct Magny Cours, France
