Team BEI Racing/Dunlop Development Takes Overall Top Spot And Class Wins At WERA National 6 hour Endurance Race At Road Atlanta Defending Endurance National Champions Team BEI Racing/Dunlop Development once again dominated the grid at the WERA National Endurance series second round at Road Atlanta this past Friday, June 8. Sunny weather and temperatures in the mid-eighties made perfect racing conditions on the the 2.5 mile course. Aaron Yates and Opie Caylor both came out of retirement to join team riders Tim Bemisderser and Billy Ethridge for the 6 hour race. The entire race ran with one crash and no red flags, and competition was close. BEI Racing/Dunlop Development took the lead in Overall and Heavyweight early on, setting a fast pace and adding a lap to their lead every hour. At the checkers, they took the overall win and the Heavyweight Endurance class win with a six-lap lead. “We couldn’t have asked for a smoother race,” says Billy Ethridge, owner of the BEI Racing/Dunlop Development/Twigg Cycle/Vesrah Suzuki GSX-R1000. “The bike ran great, the tires worked really well, and there was no drama from the rest of the field. There weren’t hardly any mechanicals, and I think only one bike went down. Our tire life was excellent, too. We were running the US-made Dunlop Slicks and did the entire race on one front and six rears. We averaged 15-18 seconds per pit stop with a rear tire change and fuel. Yates finished the race for us with the fastest lap of the race, running a 1:30.03 on a six-hour old front tire. I couldn’t be happier with our results. I do want to thank our sponsors for backing our racing efforts: Dunlop, Vesrah, Yoshimura, Thermos Man, Spiegler, Arai, Twigg Cycles, Sidi, Penske, Motonation, Pit Bull, Moto-Heaven/Thrust Company, Chicken Hawk Racing and Dion Device. I would also like to give a special thanks to our pit crew: Tony Pogue, Mark Edwards, John Fisher, and Tony Romo for all the effort they put in this weekend. We are really looking forward to the next round in August at Talladega.”
