TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (March 22, 2011) “” Have you ever watched a Superbike race and thought to yourself, “Hey, those guys don’t look so tough. I could beat them!” Now, thanks to Miller Motorsports Park, your chance has come. All fans over 18 years of age who purchase a ticket to The BigM Weekend by May 8 will be eligible to win one of 14 slots in the inaugural BigM Weekend Superbike Super Celebrity Mega Kart Showdown, to be held on Friday, May 27.* Here’s the deal: the race, to be held at the Miller Kart Center, will be comprised of 14 teams of four drivers. Each team will have a rider from either the FIM Superbike World Championship or AMA Pro Road Racing, a member of the military, a media member and a fan. The race will be conducted in four five-lap heats. Each driver must complete one of the heat races. Rather than competing for overall finishing position, each driver’s fastest lap time will be recorded and added to their teammates’ fastest lap times. The team with the lowest cumulative lap time will win the event. The top three teams will receive trophies, and the fan and military member on the winning team will receive a three-day Grandstand ticket to the 2012 BigM Weekend and a guaranteed slot in the 2012 BigM Weekend Superbike Super Celebrity Mega Kart Showdown. A complete set of rules can be found at www.MillerMotorsportsPark.com. “This is going to be a lot of fun,” said Miller Motorsports Park General Manager John Larson. “We’re giving our fans the opportunity of a lifetime to not only meet some of the world’s best motorcycle racers but to hang out, strategize and race with them. It’s something that can’t be purchased at any price. We hope to make this an annual tradition at The BigM Weekend, and we hope everyone who doesn’t get a slot in the race will come out and watch what is sure to be one of the most hotly-contested races of the year.” The May 28-30 weekend will include the USA Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, plus support races from AMA Pro Road Racing including the National Guard Superbike Championship, the Daytona SportBike Championship, the Vance & Hines XR1200 Championship and the Larry H. Miller AMA SuperSport Challenge. There will also be a rock concert on Saturday night, May 28, and a major tribute to our armed forces in recognition of Memorial Day. For information regarding Miller MotorsportsPark, call 435-277-RACE (7223) or visit the track’s website at www.MillerMotorsportsPark.com. * Fans who do not wish to purchase a race ticket but would still like to be eligible to be chosen to race may fill out a registration form in the Ticket Office at Miller MotorsportsPark. Fans chosen to compete in the race will be notified by email. All participants will be required to sign an insurance waiver.
