Fast By Ferracci MV Agusta would like to field a two-rider team in the 2008 AMA Superbike Championship and in selected Superbike World Championship events, running the entire program in-house at their Pennsylvania raceshop, but everything is hinged on whether or not they land a potential sponsor. If not, the team will not race at all in 2008. “We wait for a little bit larger sponsor,” said Fast By Ferracci team owner Eraldo Ferracci, “because we gotta do all the program here, research and development. Very little will be done over there [MV Agusta factory in Italy] because of the way the company is getting smaller over there. There’s not too much budget to do a full-blown racing department. So what we try to do, we try to acquire a sponsor for like a three-year project so we can go on the podium. Otherwise, we know we cannot do the development with the money and the time. I think at the end of the month we will be able to say yes or no.” Ferracci said his team has already started development work on their MV Agusta F4 312 Superbikes, but they will stop if the sponsorship doesn’t come through. If the sponsorship deal comes in, the team’s first choice for a rider will be Matt Lynn, who rode for Fast By Ferracci in 2007. “I know if I race here I’ve got to get back Matt,” said Ferracci, “because he does a pretty good job not only to ride and his ability but also I had a lot of problems [in 2007] and he was professional and didn’t complain too much and went with the program. But also I think if we give him a good motorcycle he’s got some talent. We want to give him another chance. And, of course, if I get the budget there will be another rider, for sure, from overseas.”
