Fasttrax Recognizes Its 2008 Champions

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio – The competition remained fierce Saturday, but it was over food and drinks as Fasttrax honored its 2008 season champions at its annual awards banquet. Fasttrax President Carol Stanley presented the awards as they were announced by race director Todd Karam. Two riders, Tim Batten and Eric Boettcher, captured three classes each. The 2008 season class champions are: Tim Batten of Garrettsville, Ohio riding a Suzuki SV 650 in 30-minute Lightweight Mini-Endurance, Medium Twins Expert, and Formula 40 Light. Eric Boettcher of Stow, Ohio riding a Yamaha FZR400 in GTII Expert, Superbike Light Expert, and Veteran 80s Light. Michael Molnar of Wilmington, Ohio riding a Honda CBR1000RR in GTI Expert and Unlimited Superbike Expert. Greg Massie on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 in GTI Novice and Formula 40 Heavyweight. John Noel Bartlett of Oil City, Pennsylvania riding a Suzuki SV650 in GTII Novice and Medium Twins Novice. Andrew Sexton of Westlake, Ohio, riding a Ducati 999, 30-Minute Heavyweight Mini-Endurance. Ron Rupert of Franklin, Ohio, on a Suzuki GSX-R600, 30-Minute Midweight Mini-Endurance. Jim Sublet of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, riding a Yamaha FZR1000, Veteran 80s Heavy. Sam Williams of Akron, Ohio, on a Kawasaki KZ1000, Veteran 70s Heavy. Bill Smith of Huber Heights, Ohio, on a Buell XB9T, Buell Twins. Michael Hall of Alliance, Ohio, riding a Kawasaki ZX6R, 600 Supersport Novice. Michael Farmer of Maineville, Ohio, riding a Suzuki GSX-R600, Superbike 600 Novice. Chris Gustin of Fairborn, Ohio, on a Suzuki SV1000, Super Twins Novice. Steve Nero of Rootstown, Ohio, riding a Suzuki GS 500, Sportsman. Rush Hour Racing captained by Jeff Stiver of Hubbard, Ohio captured the season championship in both the Heavyweight and Medium-weight classes in the three hour endurance series. The team ran a Suzuki GSX-R750 in the Heavyweight Class and a Yamaha R-6 in the mid-weight division. D.A.Y.A.M. Racing running a Suzuki SV650 and captained by Timm Goldsmith of Orchard Park, N.Y. took the season championship in the Lightweight Class of the endurance series. Bloom, 73, of Wellsboro, PA, was presented with a special Lifetime Spirit Award for 50 consecutive years of roadracing achievement. Bloom has raced across the country and was a well known privateer on major circuits running Kawasakis. His club racing has included WERA, MARRC and others as well as Fasttrax. Today he races vintage Kawasakis, running regularly in the Fasttrax series. He and his wife Janet own Crossroads Cycle-North in Wellsboro, a continuation of the business they started decades ago in Virginia before moving to Pennsylvania. Their home and business is a regular stopping off point for those touring on motorcycles. When not racing, the Blooms are themselves often two-wheeling it through the steep hills and valleys of north central Pennsylvania and across the country.
