Nico Ferreira won the Unlimited Grand Prix “Shootout” race on his DMS-sponsored Kawasaki ZX-10R October 6 at Palm Beach International Raceway, in Jupiter, Florida.

Felipe MacLean led most of the race after taking an early lead on his Kissimmee Motorsports Kawasaki ZX-10R. Rodolfo Ramirez worked his AR Motorsports Kawasaki ZX-10R up to the second spot by lap two. Ferreira, meanwhile, fought over third place with Bruno Silva and Sean Dwyer. By lap four, Ferreira had secured third place and set his sights on the lead. Then at the end of lap six, Ferreira made his move, out braking the leaders on the inside at Turn Nine to claim his first “Shootout” victory. Ramirez took second, with MacLean third, Dwyer fourth and Silva fifth at the finish.

On the podium, Ferreira commented, “Everybody worked really hard this weekend. The motorcycle was doing very good. I want to thank my team for all their work this weekend. And, thanks to Dunlop, Leo Vince, DMS, and Pretoria. I really like the Championship Cup Series and all the riders. This season has been very good.”

Ferreira also won the GTO and Unlimited Superbike races. He finished second in Unlimited Supersport, third in GTU, and fourth in Middleweight Supersport. Ramirez stated, “It was a good race. It was a good weekend. Obviously, all the guys down here are fast. It could have been anybody’s race. Nico was fast all weekend. I just tried my hardest. Thanks to everybody who came to help me this weekend. And, thanks to Pirelli Tires. They’re great. I can’t complain. I’m a little bit exhausted right now. It was a good weekend overall and I can’t thank everybody enough who helped me.”

Ramirez was the winningest Expert of the weekend with seven first-place finishes. He won the GT Lights, GTU, Middleweight Supersport, Lightweight Grand Prix, Heavyweight Supersport, Lightweight Superbike, and Middleweight Superbike classes. He also finished second in GTO, and third in Unlimited Supersport after starting from pit lane.

Clint Russell swept the Amateur classes running undefeated with some back-to-back events, including a couple of three-in-a-row races. He was the winningest racer of the weekend, overall, with a whopping ten victories. Russell won the Amateur GT Lights, GTU, Ultralight Superbike, Middleweight Supersport, Lightweight Grand Prix, Middleweight Supersport, Lightweight Superbike, Middleweight Superbike, Lightweight Supersport, and Middleweight Grand Prix classes with his Champion Motorcycles backed Suzuki GSX-R600 and SV650 machines. Russell won the Middleweight Grand Prix race after taking the lead in the amateur field, then working his was through the Expert field, passing all the competitors, to finish first, overall.
