Fillmore, Galster Each Win Four MRA Races At Pikes Peak International Raceway

The 2010 MRA season continued at Pikes Peak International Raceway on May 22nd & 23rd. Chris Fillmore was once again dominant on his Mitch Hanson backed KTM, winning all 4 of his events. Josh Galster took his Slednecks ZX6R to 4 wins as well, fighting off Ricky Orlando for the win in the final laps of Vickery Motorsports Race of the Rockies GTU.

Race of the Rockies GTU was exciting off the line as Dale Eaton narrowly pulled the holeshot, only to be passed by Shane Turpin as the field drove onto the back banking. Ricky Orlando, Dalton Dimick and Josh Galster moved forward to pressure Turpin, with Orlando passing for the lead and immediately opening a gap. Galster knew he had to get around Turpin quickly to prevent Orlando from getting away. After fighting off the still injured Turpin, Galster put his head down and started to chip away at Orlando’s advantage. Turpin was able to hold off Dimick but started to lose touch with the 2 leaders as the field began to lap traffic on the tight PPIR circuit. Orlando put his Daytona 200 experience to good use, moving decisively past lappers who slowed Galster’s progress, but Galster continued to close. In the last few laps Galster moved in on Orlando under a waving yellow as Turpin crashed out of 3rd. At that point Gaster made his move to the lead with Ricky close behind, and was able to hold off the crafty Daytona veteran for the win. Orlando took 2nd with Dimick a long way back in 3rd. All three podium finishers now head to Utah for the Lucas Oils Superbike Challenge at Miller Motorsports Park.

The MRA was thrilled to welcome a film crew from the tv show “Allimite” to this weekend’s races. Allimite broadcasts on Telemundo and is targeted to a Latin Audience of 18 years old and up. Watch for the upcoming espisode featuring racer interviews and great MRA action from PPIR!
