More, from a press release issued by FIM CEV Repsol Press Office:

Valencia poles decided

Yuki Kunii (Asia Talent Team) in Moto3™, Edgar Pons (Baiko Racing Team) in Moto2™ and Izán Guevara (Cuna de Campeones) in the European Talent Cup will head the grids of their respective categories in the second round of the FIM CEV Repsol this weekend at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo of the Comunitat Valenciana.

Yuki Kunii took his second pole of the FIM CEV Repsol with a lap of 1:39.243 in the Q1 of the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship, a time that no one could beat during this Saturday’s qualifying sessions. Kunii, who gained his first Moto3™ pole at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo last season, also led Q2 and was the only rider in this session to go below 1:40. Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Jeremy Alcoba (Laglisse Academy) join him on the first row of the grid while the second row is made up of Stefano Nepa (Andreas Pérez 77 Foundation), Ryusei Yamanaka (Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0.0) and David Salvador (Cradle of Champions).

Edgar Pons was the quickest in the Moto2™ European Championship. The Baiko Racing Team rider dominated the two qualifying sessions, setting the time to beat of 1:35.773 in Q1, which in the end earned him pole position. In fact, he was the only rider to lap below 1:36. Héctor Garzó (CNS Motorsport) also set his best time in Q1 and will be in second place on the grid alongside Niki Tuuli (Team Stylobike), who improved his time in Q2 to close out the first row. In Superstock 600, Joan Díaz (DCR Racing Team) finished the day as the fastest rider classified in the category.

In the ETC, Izán Guevara’s time of 1:43.136 in Q1 of Group A gained him the pole slot. Next to him on tomorrow’s grid will be Lorenzo Fellon (ZF GP School), the fastest rider in Group B with a time of 1:43.508, while Dirk Geiger (Kiefer Racing) will complete the front row as the second fastest rider from Group A.

ETC leader Ivan Ortolá (Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Team) and Fenton Seabright (Wilson Racing) suffered a penalty – losing 8 and 12 places on the grid respectively – for riding irresponsibly in Estoril and causing an accident.

The ETC Series 2 race is one of this season’s innovations: it is a race for riders who fail to classify for the official race, given the very high numbers this season with 60 riders permanently registered.

The schedule for the next Sunday’s races is as follows:

Moto3™ Race 1 (18 laps) 11.00

ETC Race 1 (17 laps) 12.00

Moto2™ (19 laps) 13.00

Moto3™ Race 2 (18 laps) 14.00

ETC Race 2 (17 laps) 15.00

ETC Series 2 (17 laps) 16.00

Cuna de Campeones (9 laps) 17.00

As usual, the entrance to the paddock will be free over the weekend. In addition, FIM CEV Repsol fans who go to Info Point 1 in the main access to the paddock of the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo on Sunday morning can take part in the Pit Lane Walk. Only firstcomers will get a pass for the Pit Lane Walk with a maximum of two passes per person. The Pit Lane Walk will take place at 10.15 am and start from the outside of the control tower.
