FIM: Melandri Fined, Silverstone World Superbike Race Two Results Confirmed

FIM Superbike World Championship Decisions of the Race Direction & FIM Stewards On Sunday 5 August 2012, after the second race of the FIM Superbike World Championship in Silverstone (GBR), the Race Direction decided to sanction rider Marco Melandri (Italy) with a written warning and a fine of EUR 3,000.00 for infringement of Art. 1.19.7 (on the starting grid, all adjustments must be completed by display of the 3 minutes board). An appeal was lodged against this decision to the FIM Stewards, who confirmed the decision and the sanctions. The decision is final. Moreover, a protest was lodged against the published results of the second Superbike race. The Race Direction dismissed the protest and confirmed the results. Following an appeal, the FIM Stewards confirmed the decision of the Race Direction which is thus final. The classification of the second race is confirmed as published on Sunday 5 August.
