Jacobsen, 3 More, from a press release issued by Bogdanka PTR Honda: BOGDANKA PTR HONDA’s Sam Lowes was on course for a podium finish in the sixth round of the World Supersport Championship at Misano in San Marino after starting from pole position, before crashing on lap 12 but remounting to finish 18th. The Briton is now third in the overall standings. World Supersport rookie, Mathew Scholtz, was fighting for a point scoring position when another rider clipped the front wheel of his Bogdanka PTR Honda on lap five, which resulted in the South Afrian crashing, luckily uninjured. Bogdanka Honda PTR’s Marek Szkopek, standing in for his injured brother Pawel, had a promising start to his first ever World Supersport race, closing in on the top 20 before crashing without injury on lap 13. The seventh round of the World Supersport Championship will take place at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain in three weeks time. Sam Lowes: “I had a good start and took the lead but I had to adjust my clutch straight away which wasn’t easy. After five or six laps I got settled into a rhythm and started to make my way up to third position. After the crash I had to turn the electronics off because of a damaged sensor. The right foot peg was damaged and so was the brake lever so it was really difficult but I got back up and continued, bringing the bike home in the end.” Mathew Scholtz: “I was feeling good and fighting for a point scoring position when another rider ran a bit wide and as he got back on the racing line, he clipped my front wheel with his rear wheel and there was nothing I could do. It’s not the end of the weekend we were expecting but we’re moving on to Aragon which is a track that I know and I’m confident we can have a good weekend there.” Marek Szkopek: “I was very determined to do well in my first World Supersport race and had a good pace after the start. I was catching up the riders in front of me and we were on course for a top 20 finish which was our goal before the race. Unfortunately, I had a front end crash and that was it. Thanks to the team as it was a great new experience for me to ride in the World Championship.” Simon Buckmaster, Bogdanka PTR Honda Team Manager: “Sam got a really good start but the clutch dragged and went to full reach. It took him a little time to adjust the clutch and he lost some time. Then he was in a safe third and lost the rear and crashed. It is unfortunate after such a good effort all weekend. Mathew didn’t anticipate the actions of the rider in front of him and crashed out when they made contact. That was unfortunate also as he was showing another promising weekend but didn’t achieve the result he deserved. He has the talent and speed and it will happen for him.” More, from a press release issued by PTR Honda: PTR HONDA’S Jules Cluzel enjoyed a race long battle at the front of the sixth round of the World Supersport Championship at Misano in Italy, finishing runner-up and moving up to second in the overall standings. Ronan Quarmby was a solid ninth when he crashed out on the seventh lap. He remounted but was forced to retire due to damage to his PTR Honda. Martin Jessopp on the Riders PTR Honda continued to improve despite his broken collarbone, starting in 27th and finishing a determined 19th. The season enters its second half at the seventh round at Aragon in Spain on Sunday July 1st. Before then, Jules will be taking part alongside his Bogdanka PTR Honda stable mate Sam Lowes at the Open Race at the British GP at Silverstone next weekend, June 16th – 17th. Jules: “I tried to catch Kenan but he was too fast in places while I was faster on others. Near the end I tried but it was too many risks and I made two mistakes that allowed him to get a small lead. Anyway, I am really happy, this is my third time on the podium in a row and I am now second in the Championship which is good for the PTR team, me and the rest of the season. I am really happy. Next time I want to be first and I will do my best.” Ronan: “I got an OK start but then Sheriden made a move on the inside and pushed me wide and I ran off the track. I was losing drive with the rear spinning and I tried to make a move on the brakes and lost the front. I remounted but the bike was too badly damaged to finish the race. It is disappointing but I’ll take the positives from my best every qualifying and look forward to Aragon.” Martin: “Jules bullied me into getting a pain relieving injection before the race – I am not fond of needles but he has had a few before and said I should do it. For the first six laps I felt good and managed to get through some traffic and up to where I normally would be but then the pain came back. I managed to maintain my lap times but it was a lonely race. I am mega chuffed just to finish because on Friday morning I didn’t know whether I could even ride. Now I’ll concentrate on healing before the next round and improve for the second half of the season.” Simon Buckmaster, PTR Honda Team Manager: “It is another great result for Jules. He fought Kenan all the way and only lost a little bit at the end. It is a superb job by him and the team and it is great he is up to second in championship. Ronan didn’t get the best of starts but was coming through the field and was a little frustrated. He clipped a rider and went down. He will come back stronger after an impressive performance in qualifying. It was a good job by Martin just to finish this race given his injury and he now has three weeks before Aragon to heal further.”
