2010 World Environment Day Commemoration at FIM events As in the past years, the FIM has again decided to commemorate World Environment Day, of which the official date is 5th June, at all FIM events taking place the weekend of 5-6 June. This year’s FIM action includes an awareness campaign with the participation of top riders at the following Road Racing, Motocross, Motocross Sidecar, Trial and Speedway events: MotoGP in Mugello, Italy MX1, MX2 in St-Jean d’Angély, France MX Sidecar in Wschova, Poland – Trial in Motegi, Japan Speedway in Copenhagen, Denmark. In the framework of the agreement signed in 2006 between the FIM and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), this celebration aims to inform the motorcycling community about the necessity of reducing the environmental footprint of motorcycling events and to make the fans aware of the current problems linked to soil pollution, CO2 emissions and sound levels.
