THE AGR LEAVES MOTORLAND WITHOUT PODIUMS
Roberts was just outside the podium in the first race; Uribe did not reach the top 10
Today took place the second-to-last round of the 2017 FIM CEV Repsol at the Motorland Circuit. With two races in which the Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team riders, Joe Roberts and Jason Uribe, did their best, as always, but could not get the deserved reward.
In the first race, Joe Roberts finished 4th and did not achieve his objective of getting on the podium, complaining that the tyre slid a lot and had a slower pace than yesterday. He had a very good start, but at the end of the first lap he was already 4th and in the following laps he was even 5th within a group of up to seven riders. He fought hard, but after 7 laps he lost contact and led a group of riders chasing the riders that finished on the podium. He did well keeping his place, as another four rivals chased him until the very end. His team mate Jason Uribe, ended better than he started, twelfth, but did not have a chance to get into the top 10 at any moment. He was eleventh for several laps, leading a group of three, until being overtaken two laps before the end. After this first race, Joe Roberts is only two points from the fourth place overall.
In the second race, Joe Roberts crashed in the second lap, dragged by a rival, and was not able to continue, while Uribe gained a couple of places, fighting for the 11th position, but finished in 12th. After this unfortunate race, Roberts is 18 points away from the fourth place overall, and Uribe lost one place and is now 12th.
Joe Roberts #27 Kalex Moto2 / 4th /crash: “Today it was a bit unfortunate. We started pretty good in the first race with a fourth place and then in the second race I got a really good start and was leading the race. But then unfortunately Steven made a mistake and tried to pass me and ended up crashing on the inside of me and taking me out which is really unfortunate. But overall I’m really happy with the weekend, I think we did a really good step and we’re really competitive. I think that’s something really positive. I’m going to push hard to make a really strong last race in Valencia”.
Jason Uribe #36 Kalex Moto2 / 12th /12th: “Good races today, I’m really with how the weekend went. The team worked hard, I worked hard, we improved a lot from last year. The first race for me was really good, I improved my time from Qualifying. Race 2 went pretty well, I had a lot of issues with the rear tyre. For me it was a struggle to keep the bike up. I tried my best and we improved a lot from last year. Very happy to be racing with AGR. Thank you”.
The FIM CEV Repsol is nearly done. There is only one last round in Valencia to go next November 19th. Our riders, Roberts and Uribe will compete in the last race of the year for Moto2.
