Construction On Dirt Track At Daytona International Speedway Underway Short Track Lime Rock Quarter-Mile Track Will Be Ready For AMA Pro Flat Track Events On March 3-4 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. As motorcycles buzz around Daytona International Speedway’s road course during this weekend’s Fall Cycle Scene races, bulldozers are making noise outside Turns 1 and 2 in the West Lot as construction is now underway on the quarter-mile dirt track. Construction on the quarter-mile dirt track, which will be made up of lime rock, has begun and will be complete in time for next year’s March 3-4 AMA Pro Racing Flat Track motorcycle events, which are a part of 2010 Daytona 200 Week By Honda. The new dirt track at Daytona International Speedway, which will also be utilized for other events such as the high performance karts from the World Karting Association during Daytona KartWeek by Cometic Gasket on Dec. 28-30, will have more than 5,000 temporary seats and lighting will be provided by Musco Lighting.
