The first round of the 2011 California State Championship Road Racing Series presented by Dunlop is scheduled for Buttonwillow Raceway Park with WERA West, this weekend, April 23-24. Post entry will be allowed for this event on Saturday and Sunday. The schedule will have the traditional Solo 20 – lap races on Saturday afternoon and sprint races on Sunday. The full weekend practice and race schedule can be viewed here: ~http://maps.wera.com/pdfs/2008Schedules/buttonwillow042411.pdf~. “There will be some some very exciting racing coming up this weekend,” series organizer Shandra Crawford says. “Some very talented racers will be here. In the 600 classes WERA’s Bryce Prince will be defending his title against AFM’s Joey Pascarella, Jason Lauritzen, Wyatt Farris and WERA’s Javelin Broderick. Formula 1 will see AFM’s Martin Szwarc, James Randolph, Corey Sarros, and Chris Siglin all doing battle. Open Twins will be a shoot out between WSMC’s Sherwick Min and Brian Larrabure and AFM’s Steve Metz and Bud Anderson. Formula Femme will have AFM’s Christie Cooley defending her title against WERA’s Krystyna Kubran, Marisol Lacour, AFM’s Jennifer Lauritzen, and WSMC’s Nadine LaJoie. And 2010 Overall Champion Jeremy Simmons will be returning to defend his title as well. There will be great racing to watch in all the classes, and it will be a good turnout. Another exciting name showing up this weekend will be three-time AMA Superbike Champion and 500cc GP podium finisher Doug Chandler on a Dan Kyle Racing-built BMW S1000RR. This will make Formula 1 and Open Superbike even better to watch. Rich Oliver will also be on hand Sunday for some guest commentating and will be in the pits to talk to people. He has come onboard as a sponsor in a very large way this year by giving every California State Championship class winner a free 2 day Mystery School and the Overall California State Champion a free 4 day Pro camp.” Extras for the weekend are: dinner at the track following the Solo 20 races – tickets will be sold at the door. There will also be an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday morning for all the racers; eggs will have candy, discount certificates for sponsor products, race entries, and cash. There are a few spots left for track time on Friday April 22 from Let’s Ride Track Days. Racer discounts for the track time are available, go to www.LetsRideTrackDays.com for more information and to sign up.
