Danny Eslick, 180 More, from a press release issued by American Suzuki’s PR agency: Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Blake Young Wins Final AMA Supersport Race of Season Round 11 AMA Supersport Series Monterey, California Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca September 27 – 28, 2008 Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Blake Young celebrated his first AMA Supersport victory in the series’ final round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Sunday afternoon. The 21-year-old rider had been running just outside of the podium when the 17-lap race was red-flagged due to a downed rider. In the re-start, Young took advantage of the situation and got a great start on his M4 EMGO Suzuki GSXR600. He was battling for the lead with his teammate Martin Cardenas when Cardenas ran off the track on the final lap and Young took the win. This result is not only Young’s first win in the AMA Supersport class, but it’s also his first podium finish as well. Overall, Young finished up the AMA Supersport season in fourth place overall. Blake Young: “My first AMA Supersport podium feels good and it feels even better for it to be a win. The first part of the race was pretty good, I tried to make a couple of runs and was up around fourth place. Then we had the red flag and I got a bit better starting position and a much better start on the M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX””R600. Then I just put my head down and raced real hard. Also, I want to say hats off to my teammate Martin Cardenas”¦ We ended up getting together and he went off the track. It was an unfortunate situation, but he rode a heck of a race today and I’m really sorry it had to end up like this. I’d like to dedicate this first win to my M4 EMGO Suzuki team.”
