TROY, Mich., Jan. 30, 2008 “” Flagstar Bank will be partnering with motorcycle roadracer Eddie Kraft in the 2008 race season. Kraft will race in the WERA North Central series aboard a 2008 Yamaha R6, along with select events in the AMA Pro Supersport series.

“We’ve been a sponsor in other sports events in the past such as the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon, the Atlanta Falcons football team, the Indianapolis Indians minor league baseball team and the Bayview/Mackinac sailboat race,” said David Joyce, marketing director for Flagstar Bank. “We’re pleased to get involved with motorcycle road racing, especially as Eddie Kraft is a rising star in the sport.”

A Michigan resident, Kraft won races and multiple class championships in arguably the most competitive classes offered by WERA last season. Building upon his previous racing success, he hopes to continue that trend in 2008.

“It’s great being able to partner with Flagstar,” Kraft said. “It’s not often that sponsor partnerships outside the racing industry are made. This is a tremendous opportunity for me and a great chance for Flagstar to gain exposure in an untapped and growing motorcycle market. It’s a win/win situation, and I look forward to making the most of it for both Flagstar and our team.”

Flagstar is a growing federal savings bank with banking centers in Michigan, Indiana and Georgia. It also is a leading originator of prime residential mortgage loans, operating home loan centers across the country.

Joyce said motorcycle road racing fits well with Flagstar’s culture, which prides itself on innovation and fast decision-making. “We’re always bringing new products to our customers such as wireless banking and paperless mortgage processing,” Joyce said. “Technology is the backbone of our business and the technological advances in today’s motorcycles pose some interesting similarities. Plus, a growing part of our business is our relationship with motorcycle and power sports dealers. It’s a great match.”
