As part of the MotoAmerica event at Barber Motorsports Park, June 12-14, there will be a food drive benefiting the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. According to their website, www.feedingal.org, one out of four children in Central Alabama suffer from food stress, meaning they do not have enough food to maintain adequate nutrition.
We in the motorcycle roadracing community can help with this. There will be collection bins throughout the facility for donations of non-perishable food items. Teams, families, fans, officials and everyone who comes to Barber on race weekend are invited to bring a few cans of food, drop them in one of the collection bins, and know you are helping feed hungry people. The bins will be in many colors with the words “food drive” on them and they will be in the paddock and spectator areas. The donations can also be brought to the chapel services that will be held on Sunday morning.
As you are making plans for the weekend, please remember to grab a couple of non perishable food items to bring along. In addition to seeing great professional racing you will be participating in a good thing.
