Sorensen Returns to the Track with SkyLark Bar, Mojotown & RaceFuelZ.

Back on Track and Racing for Good Health

Paddock favorite and 3 time AMA 250 GP Road Racing Champion, Chuck Sorensen has returned to the race track with help from Skylark Racing, Mojotown, and RaceFuelZ.

In October of 2011, former AMA 250GP champ Chuck Sorenson received the shocking diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer. After years of taking risks on the track, Chuck began racing in a different program – the one to save his own life. The diagnosis came out of nowhere and hit the young man like a ton of bricks. “Your world seems to stop for a moment, like slow motion” said Sorensen while talking to Michael Aron, former road-racer and owner of Mojotown Multi Media agency and Motorcycle Gear. “Rather than beat myself up with pity, I had to face cancer with the same energy I used at the track. I put my visor down, pulled up to the grid and got ready to attack it.”

At the time of the diagnosis Chuck was working for industry magazines, riding and reporting on things related to gear and bikes. The regiment of radiation and chemo treatments made it impossible for him to work, let alone ride. In January of 2012 he had surgery to remove a tumor, and in the months after the surgery he experienced life-threatening complications. Now, after two years of rigorous treatment and major lifestyle changes, he is happy to report that he’s entirely cancer-free.

“I was blessed to have a great support group around me; I can’t emphasize how important a positive outlook affects everything. Now that I am healthy and free of cancer, the urge to get back on a bike has never been stronger.”

Chuck reached out and put some irons in the fire to drum up interest in a new racing venture. “I was amazed at the response I received!” says Chuck. Old friend, racer and owner of San Francisco’s Skylark Bar, Steve Engelbrecht, stepped up and donated a 2012 Suzuki GSXR1000 for Chuck to race in the 2014 AFM Series, and hopefully, a few select AMA events as well. With Steve on board, Team Skylark had arrived.

Chuck then contacted Michael about sponsorship, and the two friends have partnered to promote each other’s latest projects. Mojotown is offering marketing support for Chuck as he races to raise awareness for early cancer screening, and Chuck has become a great role model for RaceFuelZ – a performance beverage that is hitting the race scene as the all-natural formula for endurance and hydration. Chuck is the perfect person for us to work with while we’re launching our new product RaceFuelZ, and I love what Chuck is trying to accomplish and get back on the track. He’s really an inspiration and that’s another reason I wanted to help where I could.” said Michael.

One of the things Chuck hopes to do while racing is to use his on-track exposure to become an advocate for cancer awareness, emphasizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle and getting checked early. “It’s really important to convey that cancer can happen to anyone, young or old. There are a lot of younger people out there that have this disease and may not know it. People are afraid of a colonoscopy but if I’d been checked sooner, my life would be different now.”

Chuck commented “The satisfaction of putting together machines, and race teams, from the ground up – working with amazing people and getting positive results – this is a major driving force in how I live my life, and I know that Michael works the same way. RaceFuelZ is a great, healthy product and Michael is putting together the right team to take it all the way.”

“Good health, racing, and fun – Mojotown, Skylark Racing, and RaceFuelZ all have something great to promote. I’m glad we can work together to achieve our goals. I can’t wait to see how the 2014 race season unfolds!” says Michael.

RaceFuelZ debuted at the season opener of the AMA Road Racing series at Daytona last weekend, and made it into the winners circle via Gage McAllister, who took 3rd in the Vance & Hines XR1200 class. RaceFuelZ is also endorsed by former Daytona winners Steve Rapp, who took 10th in the Daytona 200, and Joey Pascarella who took 12th in the same race in Florida last week.

Chuck will make his return to the track with the Skylark Racing Team at the AFM Series later this month at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, May 3rd and 4th.

About The Skylark Bar
The Skylark first opened its doors in December 1996, becoming one of the Mission’s nighttime favorites. The stylish decor and cozy, dim ambience are attractions in themselves, but the strong drinks and great DJ’s make the experience worth repeating. The Skylark has a great sound system and a cozy dance floor.

The Skylark also features local San Francisco DJ’s every night and there is never a cover charge. For information, please call Steve at (415) 724-6064

Michael Aron created Mojotown as a design and web marketing agency in 1999. With Michael’s love for motorcycles and racing, his clientele was focused in the motorsports industry and grew to include factory race teams, performance parts manufacturers, and local dealerships. In 2009, Michael opened the Mojotown Motorcycle Gear Shop in San Rafael. “The shop is a true manifestation of my love for riding, and years of industry experience, behind the scenes and on the track”, says Michael. “My newest endeavor, RaceFuelZ, is launching me back into the race scene while promoting my product.” Stay tuned for more information on RaceFuelZ.
