On Friday May 27th the Four Feathers Racing(4FR) semi made a very special delivery of new bicycle helmets to third grade students at Culver Elementary School in Culver, IN. They were treated to special helmet stickers and posters as they toured the professional racing rig. This was a follow up to the classroom portion of the 4FR helmet safety program that visited the school last week. The team principal of Four Feathers Racing, Scotty Van Hawk, brought one of their Toyota/Lucas Oil sponsored superbikes and all of his safety equipment to educate students on the importance of wearing the proper protection during all activities. He explained the physics of safety equipment in order to get the kids thinking about why they need it and put the cool factor into safety. “One of the biggest obstacles with getting kids to wear helmets is the fact that there is a problem with the kids thinking that they are not cool,” stated Scotty Van Hawk “It seems to be handed down from older generations and we always try to repair the issue by educating the children and explaining that all professionals wear their helmets and they should too.” Helmets for the entire Culver Elementary third grade were provided, free of charge, by the very generous efforts of teachers, local businesses, and 4FR team partners. Four Feathers Racing would like to thank everyone involved for helping us make a difference in the lives of these students.
