Friday Product Feature: Performance Cycleworx Pro Brake Lever Guard

© 2013, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.

The front brake lever on a typical road racing motorcycle can be extremely vulnerable to accidental contact, and when that happens, the outcome is almost always bad. At best, the rider is no longer in complete control of the bike. At worst, the tire locks and slides, or the rider is launched over the handlebars – either way, no good. Performance Cycleworx’s new Pro Brake Lever Guard is designed to help riders avoid accidental contact on the track that locks up their front brake and to help riders avoid hand injuries in a crash. The all-carbon-fiber device has been refined for 2013, incorporating two years of testing and feedback from AMA Pro racers–and front brake lever guards are now required by AMA Pro Racing. The “drop-down” design allows more freedom at the handlebar, and the latest version of the guard is smaller, lighter, stronger and less expensive. Suggested retail starts at $150.00.
