From Wrestler to Racer: Gabe “Tyler Reks” Tuft

     The wrestling career was over, that chapter closed. Gabe Tuft had waited until he’d matured, bought a nice cruiser and tried to enjoy riding on the street.  But six months later, the cruiser’s cases and pegs were all scraped up from dragging in corners, and Tuft couldn’t wait any longer to chase a dream that he left dormant for nearly two decades.  “I walked into the closest dealership (K&B Motorsports), where the owner is a friend of mine. I pointed to the 2017 (Yamaha YZF-R1) and said, ‘I want that. Put a bow on it. I want it,’ says Tuft, 39, of Cotati, California.

     A year later, Tuft had a bunch of track days under his belt, a successful first weekend of racing in the books, and a pair of trophies to prove that it really happened. And with any luck, it is the latest step on a path to accomplishing a dream—racing in a Pro-level MotoAmerica event …
