Daniel BUKOWSKI, Poland (Honda CBR600RR), 2:06.336 More, from a press release issued by Parkalgar Honda: Strong start for Parkalgar Honda EUGENE LAVERTY took a comfortable second and Miguel Praia an impressive eighth for Parkalgar Honda in the first qualifying session for the ninth round of the World Supersport Championship at Brno in the Czech Republic. In glorious sunshine, both riders improved throughout the day and are in positive frames of mind. Wild card racer Daniel Bukowski from Poland on a PTR prepared Bogdanka Honda CBR600RR took more than a second from his personal best at the circuit to finish 15th. There is another practice and qualifying session on Saturday before the race takes place at 1330CET on Sunday, July 11th. Eugene: “This morning when we started I had very little rear end grip and the front end was not giving me the feedback I wanted. We worked on the settings and this afternoon we have found a good setting with the forks and there is now more rear grip. We have things we want to improve but overall we are not in a bad position and working hard to improve.” Miguel: “This morning I was as high as third and I am happy with a close eighth this afternoon in qualifying. I am only a couple of 10ths away from the front row and my lap times are consistent I can do more than one lap quickly. We are working on the chassis of my Parkalgar Honda, it is good but there are some areas we will try to make better for tomorrow. I like Brno and I am happy with my physical condition and preparation for this race, I feel I am in my best ever shape.” Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Honda Team Manager: “A strong start to the weekend for Parkalgar Honda with Eugene right at the front and Miguel showing genuine pace to get on to the second row and be within touching distance of the front row. We have good race pace with Eugene and there is more work we can do to improve that as well as going for one fast lap. It’s another positive day for Miguel carrying on his good form from Misano. He is on the second row and there is a real chance he can maintain that tomorrow.” More, from a press release issued by ParkinGO Triumph BE1 Racing: The ParkinGO Triumph BE1 Racing team worked on bike setup at Brno on the first day of practice , on a track where the cycle part is crucial. David Salom finished sixth, while Davies, Iannuzzo and Lagrive had to settle for eleventh to thirteenth places respectively. However, the results are not decisive as the starting grid will be determined tomorrow, but it is fundamental to wisely intepret the data gathered today. DAVID SALOM | Triumph Daytona 675 | 6th in 2’04.157 : “I had some trouble this morning, but we then found a good setup which alllowed me to get a good feeling with the front end . However, I can further improve , hopefully will qualify in front tomorrow”. CHAZ DAVIES | Triumph Daytona 675 | 11th in 2’04.542 : “This is a new track for me, last time I raced here was in the seat of a 250 GP five years ago. I haven’t yet found the right setup which would allow me to ride as I want to, but I think we know what changes to make in order to get the bike to perform better”. VITTORIO IANNUZZO| Triumph Daytona 675 | 12th in 2’04.549 : “We did a great job today and I posted fast times right away. I made a big step forward from Misano, without having to take any risks. I can however improve, but before I push hard, I’ll have to do some more work on setup in warm up tomorrow morning”. MATTHIEU LAGRIVE | Triumph Daytona 675 | 13th in 2’04.773 : “Today everything went smoothly for a session and a half. But when I got back on the track with new tyres on, I wasn’t able to get the same feeling with the bike and I couldn’t go all the way. However, I like this track a lot and I’m confident I can improve tomorrow”. More, from a press release issued by Hannspree Ten Kate Honda: Michele Pirro was fourth fastest in this afternoon’s first qualifying session for Sunday’s ninth round World Supersport championship race at Brno in the Czech Republic. Provisional pole position was taken by Japanese rider, Katsuaki Fujiwara, while Pirro’s Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team-mate, Kenan Sofuoglu, set the seventh fastest lap time around the 5.403km Brno circuit, where the track temperature was still at 53°C when the session finished at 17.47 local time. Both Hannspree riders benefitted from a two-day test at Imola in Italy last week when they worked on improving the electronics package on the team’s Honda CBR600RR machines. However, although they are confident of improvement tomorrow, both complained of chassis issues today which has hindered the progress they had been seeking. Michele Pirro P4 It’s not such a bad position of course, but we still have the problem of very little grip which makes it difficult to hold the line in through the corners. I don’t know if it’s because the track temperature was high today, but we had the same problem this morning and I don’t think the track will be getting much cooler over the weekend. I’ll sit down with my guys tonight and talk through all the possibilities. I am confident that we can come up with some solutions for tomorrow. Kenan Sofuoglu P7 I’m not quite sure where to begin to describe the problems we have because they are in every corner of the track! I can’t get on the gas and hold a line, so I have to increase the lean angle but then I almost lose the front. We made some progress after the first practice session this morning, but things were very bad then as well. I’m not surprised that I’m slow here because we don’t really have much data from before, but I am disappointed to be more than one second from the front. Last year we were still in the process of changing our suspension and there was nothing from Friday’s data to give us an indication of which way to go today. However, I know we’ll make some improvements tomorrow the team, the bike and me. We’ll be OK for Sunday’s race I am sure, but right now we have some problems to work on.
