Geoff May Wins Two WERA National Challenge Sprints At Road Atlanta

RE-CAP 2018 WERA CYCLE JAM!

The 2018 WERA Cycle Jam concluded this past weekend at Road Atlanta in Braselton, GA with great racing and winning against Mother Nature and what she threw at the riders, spectators, corner workers and all the staff!

Saturday was the WERA Vintage and Sportsman Races presented by CayloRmade and featured the Pit Bull C Superstock Expert and Novice Classes as well as the Integrity RV Senior Superbike Expert and Novice Heavyweight and Mediumweight Classes. Special thank-you to Integrity RV for giving the winner special awards at this event. The grids were stacked with so much talent and the racing was competitive and exciting. 

Multiple winners for the weekend were Geoff May from Sugar Hill, GA on his Kaw 1000 taking wins in the Formula 1, A Superbike and A Superstock while being challenged the entire race by Stefano Mesa from Boca Raton, FL. Chris Stanton from Summerville, NC on his Yam 1000 took all three wins on the Novice side. The B Superbike Expert win went to Matt Burdett from McDonough, GA on his Yam 600. Burdett also took the C Superstock win. B Superstock win went to Garrett O’Brien from Memphis, TN on his Yam 600. Novice B Superbike was Matt Faulkner with Doug Royce taking the win in C and B Suerstock. C Superbike saw Tulio Pinto from Cartersville, GA take his Yam 600 to the top of the box. Novice stand out Steven Roth from Lititz, PA on his Yam 600 took the win in C Superbike. The Integrity RV Expert Heavyweight win went to Luie Zendejas from Fayetteville, NC on his Suz 1000 with William Posse from Moncure, NC on his Yam 600 taking the Mediumweight win. Novice Heavyweight was Eli M. Narrramore on his BMW 1000 and Tim Price on his Yam 600 taking the honors. Formula 2 saw David Stauffer from Cedar Grove, NY on his Suz 650 take the win with Todd Eads on is Suz 650 taking the Novice win. Heavyweight Twins winner was Michael Hilton on his Duc 999 and Craig Wickersham on his Tri 675 taking the Novice win. Lightweight Twins Superstock was Darrell J. Ricks, Jr. on his Suz 650 for the Expert repeating in the Lightweight Twins Superbike and Ryan Carson on is SV650 for the Novice win in Superstock and Michael Gries on his SV in Superbike. The D Superbike win was Eric Crews with Novice Perry Prichard. D Superstock saw Blake Davis on his Yam 321 take the win and the young gun went on to also win the E Superstock Class and Clubman Expert Class! E Superstock Novice win was Isiah DeBusk on his Yam 300 only to repeat in D Superstock. Owen Fairburn took the win in Clubman Novice on his Yam 300. F Superstock saw Manny Poulis take the win on his Kaw 250 with Novice honors going to Melanie Huffsteter on her Kaw 250. 

Our Vintage winners on the day were: 500 GP – Jerry Duke on his Duc 350; V3 – Mark Morrow on his Yam 400; V4 – Harry Vanderlilnden on his Kaw 550 who repeated the win for the V5 Class; V6 LW went to Mitch Cato on his Yam 400 who repeated the win for the V6 MW and V8 MW Classes;V7 MW went to Erik Aderhold on his Hon 600; V7 HW was Ray Hickman on his Suz 750; V8 HW win went to James Roth on his Suz 600.

Sunday the Pirelli/WERA National Challenge Series took over Road Atlanta. HMGP (Historic Motor Gran Prix) had their exhibition race after the lunch break and saw Michael Burns run off on his Yam 1000. The 600 Superstock Class saw Tulio Pinto take the win in Expert with Steven Roth take the Novice Honors to repeat those honors in 600 Superbike as well. The Open Superstock Class saw Geoff May continue his winning ways with Chris Stanton doing the same in the Novices. 300 Superstock saw young gun Blake Davis show everyone around with Owen Fairburn doing the same for the Novices. 750 Superstock was R. Bryan Land on his Yam 600 taking the Expert win and repeating to win the 600 Superbike as well.  Andrew F. Allen took the win in 750 Superstock Novice. 750 Superbike goes to Ryan Christian on his Yam 600 with Matt Faulkner taking the Novice win. Formula 2 saw Darrell J. Ricks, Jr. take the Expert win with Todd Eads taking Novice. Ricks repeated in Lightweight Twins Expert as did Eads in Novice. Heavyweight Twins Expert winner was Michael Hilton on his Duc 999 and Dmitirij Maskovskij on his Duc 1199 taking the Novice win. The Michelin WERA Superbike Race saw Geoff May over Stefano Mesa over Samuel Smathers.
