German television network DSF and Dorna Sports, commercial and TV rights-holders of the MotoGP World Championship, today confirmed that they have reached an agreement to screen MotoGP in Germany from 2009 until 2011. The agreement means that DSF will have exclusive rights to broadcast the world’s premier motorcycle championship in Germany for the next three years, including coverage not only of the elite MotoGP class, but also the 125cc and 250cc World Championships which includes up and coming German talent such as Stefan Bradl and Sandro Cortese. DSF will broadcast all three races live from each of the series 18 events (17 for 125 and 250), and will also screen practice and qualifying sessions for the three classes, totalling 170 hours of programming per year. With on-site production, and a dedicated unilateral broadcast, German fans are now guaranteed to enjoy an enhanced MotoGP experience. DSF chairman Oliver Reichert remarked, “The broadcasting rights of MotoGP is an absolute milestone for DSF. With these premium rights we are now able upgrade our high-level motorsports programming even further. Together with our other high-class sports broadcasting rights such as the Bundesliga, we have the best line-up for the future.” Manel Arroyo, Dorna’s Managing Director remarked, “Dorna is delighted to be collaborating with DSF for the next three years. This means German fans will finally be able to enjoy MotoGP programming which is dedicated to their needs. We are confident that signing this deal means the sport will continue to grow in Germany.” Further details of programming and the presenter line-up for 2009 will be announced in the coming months.
