A new Rider Training Symposium will take place at the ADAC Training Centre Rhein-Main in Gründau, near Frankfurt (Germany) on 30, 31 May and 1 June 2007. This fifth edition will gather together members of the international network of rider training experts established by the FIM since the first symposium organised in 1996 in Luxembourg. The 30 and 31 May will be dedicated to the following activities in which participants could take part in groups made up of about twelve persons: Braking exercises in bends as well as obstacle/collision avoidance in bends presented by a team of the “Centre de Maîtrise de la Route” (Belgium); Initiation to trial and full exercise on how to control a bike at low speed by the Driver Training Centre of Colmar-Berg (Luxembourg); Control of bikes in bends and/or braking on a slippery track (bikes fitted with side wheels) by a KNMV team (Dutch National Motorcycle Federation); Braking techniques (in particular on the front brake) by the Cornu Master School (Switzerland); Various slaloms with and without using the front brake by ADAC (Germany); Sudden avoidance of obstacles by Rob Smith (Australia) with recording device. There will also be during these two days a demonstration of the Tripy concept (GPS road book specially designed for bikes, Belgium); a presentation of the CogniFit learning system (software for evaluating, training and enhancing cognitive skills related to driving/riding, Israel) and a presentation of the Neck Brace system (Germany). In the morning of 1 June, a ride is planned on the public roads during which Dutch trainers will have the opportunity to show new learning techniques to help avoid the many pitfalls encountered on the roads.
