Following on the announcement earlier this week regarding GNS Racing entering the 2010 Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport Championship, the team is delighted to announce the signing of 2009 British Supersport Cup Champion, Sam Lowes. The 19-year-old Lincoln rider will join Paul Jordan from Magherafelt in Northern Ireland in Gary Stubbington’s Southampton-based team and between them, they are expected to be challenging for honours in the twelve round series aboard the team’s 2009-specification Honda CBR600RRs. “I’m delighted to be joining GNS Racing and can’t wait to get testing as after a successful first season on a 600, I feel ready for the challenge. It helps to get plans sorted early and we can now concentrate on the season ahead. I’m also looking forward to working with Paul this year and to help him adapt to the four-stroke bike from the 125 as I had to do,” said Lowes, who will contest the main championship with Jordan chasing Supersport Cup honours. “To have joined GNS Racing is fantastic and I’m relishing the opportunity. It’s going to be a challenge in stepping up from the little 125s but I’m sure I’ll be OK and it will be a lot easier with Sam as my team mate,” said 18-year-old Jordan. Team owner Gary Stubbington said: “I’m very happy that I have secured the services of both Sam and Paul as they are two high quality riders who can push us towards the front in 2010. Sam has proved his credentials by winning the Supersport Cup last year and I expect Paul will adapt to the 600 quickly. We know the bikes are proven and once we get a few miles under our belts, we’ll be very well prepared for the challenge of next season.” The 2010 British Supersport Championship, which is second only to the British Superbike Championship in terms of prestige, starts at Brands Hatch over Easter.
