Formula Xtreme Goes Xtremely Green In 2009 The Australian Formula Xtreme Company (AFXCO) is proud to announce that 2009 will be a watershed year for the trend setting market leader in Australian motorcycle road racing. The relaunched Formula Xtreme Tri-State Trophy series will provide for the first time in five years more than one high profile national road racing series for competitors, sponsors and spectators alike to enjoy and partake in. On an even more important front AFXCO recognises that climate change is possibly the single largest issue all of us face today. We are all aware of the present issues of a global economy slowdown and the challenges that will bring but once that issue is passed the serious one of global warming will remain and will still need to be acted upon. We at the Australian Formula Xtreme Company are not prepared to wait. AFXCO intends in 2009 to provide a very cost effective fun racing series for all competitors and be carbon responsible at the same time. In 2009 Formula Xtreme will again take the lead in motorcycle sport in this country with the aim of pioneering the first truly carbon neutral motorcycle road or any other motorcycle racing series that we know of any where? The Formula Xtreme Tri-State Trophy and the Formula Xtreme NSW Cup series will not only implement carbon off sets for the competitors and officials at all AFXCO promoted events in 2009 but will also offset the carbon foot print of the spectators who attend each event, plus add a buffer of 10% to ensure that we make our series sustainable well into the future. AFXCO believes that motorcycles by their very nature are more carbon responsible then most if not all other forms of personal motorized transportation, and as such we aim to highlight how a existing form of personal transportation and technology if adopted more widely by Australians would be possibly one way of assisting in lowering our nation’s carbon footprint. AFXCO further takes seriously its corporate social responsibilities and will not only aim to be 100% carbon neutral in 2009 but as both FX series will also encompass Junior road racing we pledge that as motorsport promoters we will not at a series level endorse or have alcohol sponsorship as a series sponsor. This proactive decision we at AFXCO believe should be adopted in all aspects of motorsport as alcohol sponsorship and motorsport are not compatible, however we respect the rights of individuals to have their own personal sponsors. AFXCO invites other equally minded corporate socially responsible Companies to be the first to join us in partnering in these two groundbreaking Australian motorcycle series. With the right corporate support AFXCO intends through the two Formula Xtreme series to promote the important message that all of us can be carbon responsible if we decide to be, while still enjoying the many exciting things we all look forward to doing in life each day. We believe that even though the planet faces these huge man made global warming challenges, we can actually do something very positive about it if we all adopt socially responsible ways of off-setting and or at the least reducing our carbon footprint, these two Australian motorcycle series intend to provide two examples of how to achieve this goal. The two Formula Xtreme series are aimed at providing the country’s most cost effective professionally run fun racing series for competitors, no matter what grade or class of racing they wish to compete in. The first of the two series will kick off in February at Eastern Creek Raceway and will be the precursor for the main five round east coast Formula Xtreme-TT series that starts in mid May at Winton Raceway in Victoria and finishes in September at Wakefield Park Raceway in New South Wales. AFXCO is pleased to announce that the BEARS NSW and National series will be run in conjunction with the two FX series next year. Previous race meetings in the nineties that had the combination of the BEARS and the Formula Xtreme classes were hugely successful from both a racing and a spectator point of view. We look forward to actively promoting the BEARS racing and highlighting the benefits of being involved in this great class of classic racing. The two Formula Xtreme Series will run the same classes in 2009; Formula Xtreme (Open to A,B,C,D) Formula Oz (Open to A,B,C,D) Formula Xtreme-Lites (600) (Open to A,B,C,D) Pro-Twins/Nakedbike (Open to A,B,C,D) BEARS (Open to A,B,C,D) FZ6 Cup (Open to A,B,C,D) Superstock 600 (Open to C&D) Juniors (13-16yrs) (Open to eligible 2 and 4-stroke machines) Xtreme Ultra-Lites (Open to A,B,C,D) AFXCO is also intending to pioneer another possible first by introducing carbon off sets for participants at the Wakefield Park Raceway Xtreme Ride Days in 2009. At this time we would ask all WA, SA, Tasmanian and Northern Territory based competitors who intend to compete in either or both Formula Xtreme series to contact us at their earliest convenience. In the coming weeks before Christmas we are looking forward to releasing other important competitor related details about the two 2009 Formula Xtreme motorcycle racing series. For further information on the series please contact Terry O’Neill on 0419 448 452 in business hours or email on [email protected].
