With this weekend heralding the return of the MotoGP World Championship to the Shanghai International Circuit for the third consecutive season, there was a further boost for the sport’s presence in China, as public broadcaster CCTV 5 will broadcast live coverage of the Sinopec Great Wall Lubricants Grand Prix of China this Sunday. CCTV 5 is China’s premier sports channel, and part of the China Central Television broadcasting network. Known to many simply as the Sports Network, it is a terrestrial free-to-air channel which reaches every corner of the country – guaranteeing excellent exposure for the world’s premier motorcycle racing series. Commenting on the announcement, CCTV 5 director Mr. Jiang Heping remarked, “As the number of motorcycle racing fans steadily grows in China, we are pleased to broadcast live the world’s leading motorcycle racing event staged in Shanghai, China.” The MotoGP race at the Sinopec Great Wall Lubricants Grand Prix of China takes place on Sunday May 6th at 3pm local time (GMT +8)
