“As you crest St. Ninian’s crossroads, you jump completely off the ground at 160 mph as the road in front of you just disappears, down and to the right. As soon as you land, you steer to the right, and then the bike wheelies; when the front touches again, you steer hard to the left and plunge down Bray Hill. The bike wheelies again halfway down and as soon as the front tire hits, you steer right and brace for impact. The bottom of Bray Hill is a massive G-out. The bike’s suspension fully collapses; you slam down on top of the tank and as you fire out of this hole, you’re steering as hard as you can to the right, sweeping across the road, trying not to hit the curb and wall on the left”¦To do this entire section well, you NEVER lift on the throttle. It’s spectacular.” “” Jimmy Moore Portland, Oregon “” Each June, the best motorcycle racers in the world congregate on a small island in the middle of the Irish Sea to compete in the world’s toughest motorcycle race””the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. In the 102 years since the TT’s inception, no American has ever stood on the “Premier Class” podium. (American Dave Roper won the one-time-only exhibition 500cc Historic race, which was run in 1984.) A small group of dedicated motorcycle enthusiasts has a big plan to change that. The US TT Foundation, newly chartered and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, has created a plan to send a competitive US rider to the Isle of Man. “This all got started because we’re big fans of Jimmy Moore,” said Bradford Duval, USTTF chair. “Jimmy got his start as a racer here in Portland, then went on to become an AMA champion for two years in a row. He’s run the TT several times, and we think he can podium if we get him a competitive bike. But our overall goal is to show the world that Americans have what it takes to compete at the Isle of Man. And we can demonstrate that we have the largest, most cohesive motorcycling community in the world; we can make this happen.” The USTTF has created an extremely grass roots funding mechanism: Anyone who gives $10 or more to the 2010 Isle of Man campaign will get his or her name on Jimmy Moore’s race bike and be listed on the donor page on the website. To donate $10 to the US TT Foundation and help get a highly competitive US racer to the TT, visit the website: www.usttfoundation.com. About the US TT Foundation We are a newly formed organization with a long-range commitment to an American presence at the TT. While we welcome and encourage corporate supporters, this organization is committed to creating a way for our motorcycle community “” racers, rides, fans and families “” to work together and accomplish a goal we all share. About Jimmy Moore Jimmy Moore is an accomplished, articulate American motorcycle racer. He has won two AMA titles: 2002 Superstock and 2001 Supersport 750cc. All four riders ahead of him on the all-time list were on 1000cc machines.
