New Hampshire Motor Speedway Neal Garvin beat both Mother Nature and Shane Narbonne in GTO. Meanwhile the fast lap was set by Argo Cycles’ Scott Greenwood in his GTU win over Bruce Transportation’s Cory Hildebrand. Greenwood clocked a remarkable 1:21.624 on a wet track. All four riders raced on Dunlop rain tires.

Souhegan Valley Motorsport’s Scott Mullin, held off Nate Mendell to take the GTL win. Mullin clocked a fast 1:24.681 aboard his Dunlop shod Kawasaki EX650. Weather and an oil-down forced three sprints races to be run on Sunday, including the Motorace Dash for Cash.

Trading Paint

An annual sprint, Miz Match kicked off Sundays racing schedule in front of a boisterous crowd. Cynthia Bisagni and Lorna Murphy launched their Suzuki SV650’s perfectly side by side with Murphy on the outside going into turn 1. After trading paint at the apex, Bisagni emerged in control but had to fend off an aggressive attack in turn 3. Jackie Halpa trailed Murphy closely aboard her Honda CRF 450 Supermoto.

Murphy took over the lead in the ‘bowl’ and put her head down to steadily stretch her advantage all the way to the flag. She set a personal best lap time in what was her second win of the season. Bisagni kept Murphy in sight to hold onto second place in front of Halpa in third.

Motorace Dash for Cash

Christian Cronin led every lap aboard his Chronic Motorsports/Dunlop Yamaha. Steve Giacomaro’s Orient Express/Dunlop Yamaha ran second ahead of Scott Greenwood until the third lap when Greenwood took over the spot. Cory Hildebrand ran fourth with Motorace’ Kip Peterson rounding the top five aboard his Michelin equipped Suzuki GSX-R600. Greenwood put on a late charge to catch Cronin on the penultimate lap but was unable to make the pass for the win.

Motard

Tyler Sweeney grabbed the holeshot aboard his fast KTM, but was quickly swallowed up by two of the club’s top riders. Coming from the third row, Jeff Wood took the point on the first lap in what turned out to be a barn burner. Shane Narbonne ran a close second ahead of Sweeney, Mike Martire and Jason Routhier. Narbonne passed Wood for the lead in turn 6 of the third lap but gave it back in the infield of the next. Meanwhile, Martire was coming fast and took Sweeney in the ‘bowl’ for third. Running laps in the sixteens, Wood held off repeated attacks by Narbonne before finally claiming a small gap late. Jeff celebrated with a victory wheelie the length of the front strait while Narbonne sat up and watched from a few lengths back. Martire claimed a comfortable third with Sweeney holding off Routhier at the flag.

The Fastest Race

Unlimited Grand Prix featured a blazingly fast Eric Wood aboard his Woodcraft Ducati 1098. Wood led every lap, but fended of a charging Shane Narbonne coming from the back aboard his DAS/Dunlop Suzuki GSX-R1000. Narbonne made an early attempt but was unable to run Wood’s pace. Christian Cronin, Cory Hildebrand and Dennis Levesque aboard his Seacoast/Dunlop Aprilia RSV rounded the top five. Wood set the fast time of the weekend with a 1:11.3.

The Best Race

Lightweight Supersport turned out to be the best race of the weekend, showcasing four riders battling for the win. Young Scott Mullin grabbed the holeshot ahead of Broad Squad’s Mark Dages. Plaistow Powersport’s Rick Doucette was coming fast in third and towing Motorace’ Brian Kent with him. Doucette soon displaced Dages and began pressing Mullin. Kent trailed in fourth less then a half second from the leader. At the halfway point, Doucette made his move for the lead and made it stick. Dages started probing Mullin and passed the youngster in turn 10 for third. Meanwhile, Kent looked to follow Dages through, but Mullin held him off at the stripe.

“That was the most fun I’ve had all year,” said Dages. “I got by Mullin in traffic. He’s real polite out there. I was worried about Kent, though. He is a tough racer and we always seem to be going for the same spot. It’s been that way for years, so I’m glad Mullin kept him off me.”
