New Group to Resurrect Red Flag Fund A new group led by former racer Brian McLaughlin plans to resurrect the Red Flag Fund and restart operations later this year. The Red Flag Fund was shut down in March after attempts by the original founders to find a new fund manager fell through. “We feel strongly that the Red Flag Fund’s important work of raising and distributing money to seriously injured motorcycle road racers is valuable to the roadracing community, and we really want it to continue,” said McLaughlin. “It’s going to take some time to sort out all the legalities, but we plan to work through all the issues and be up and running with a new fund by fall.” McLaughlin, a veteran racer and racing instructor from Waterford, Wisconsin, is in the process of assembling a board of directors and filing paperwork for a non-profit charitable company that will take the name of the former Red Flag Fund with the permission of original founders Jeff and Jen Kufalk. “Jeff and Jen have been really helpful in sharing information and insight they learned while starting up and running the original Red Flag Fund,” said McLaughlin. “We’re grateful for their assistance and for all the effort they put into the Red Flag Fund.”
