National Celebrations for Suzuki GSX-R Owners Draw Thousands – First-ever celebration events a huge success – BREA, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2005) – American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) today announced that this year’s first-ever GSX-R Owner Appreciation Celebration, which honored the 20th anniversary of the Suzuki GSX-R, was an overwhelming success. More than 4,000 GSX-R owners recently celebrated the flagship line of GSX-R sportbikes at select Suzuki-sponsored races across the country. “Suzuki is delighted with the enthusiastic response we’ve experienced throughout the year with these GSX-R Owner Appreciation Celebration events,” said Mel Harris, ASMC vice president of the Motorcycle/ATV Division. “It was truly inspiring to see thousands of GSX-R lovers gathered together, celebrating the motorcycle that helped Suzuki become the number-one sportbike manufacturer.” Suzuki’s GSX-R Owner Appreciation Celebration events were created for all Suzuki GSX-R owners who were able to pre-register on-line for the events. The package included free race tickets, preferred parking, Yoshimura-hosted tech seminars, autograph signings with Suzuki riders, a commemorative pin, gear check, a parade lap on the track and much more. The events were hosted at the following Suzuki-sponsored AMA Superbike races: California Speedway in Fontana, Calif.; Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.; Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Va.; and Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.; as well as the Suzuki Cyclefest in Copper Mountain, Co., and the NHRA Pro Stock race at Reading Dragway in Reading, Pa.
