Leon Camier expects to continue his charge towards the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in association with Pirelli in the August Bank Holiday Monday tenth round at Cadwell Park but the Airwaves Yamaha rider is being promised a challenging time by the returning force of Sylvain Guintoli. The Frenchman has recovered from the serious leg injuries sustained in the third round and having tested successfully aboard the Worx Crescent Suzuki makes a racing return at the Lincolnshire circuit. “I am relaxed about coming back at Cadwell Park,” said Guintoli. “It is going to be tough as I haven’t ridden in a race for these past months, but I am feeling positive.” The former MotoGP rider had won the opening round of the series, and packed in three more podium finishes before being sidelined and now Guintoli is eager to show what might have been: “I want to be back out there and give Leon Camier a bit of a tough time. “I think we would have had a good fight for the championship this year and although I can’t win it now, I want to finish the season with some good results,” added Guintoli who is ready for the challenges posed by one of the more demanding circuits in the series. Camier is delighted to see him back in action. “I expect Sylvain to be fast straightaway and I hope that he has good races. He was going pretty strong before Donington and hopefully will up the pace, but this is a hard circuit for anyone, a very physical one.” Camier, who took a pair of fourths in the corresponding round of last season, is intent on extending his 113.5 points lead over his team-mate James Ellison: “I’m feeling confident and while I always want to win, if that is not possible, I will settle for good points with the title in mind.” The winner of all but three of the races so far, Camier is eager to continue in that vein at a circuit where he suffered a series leg injury two years earlier: “I want good results for that reason, putting that tumble behind me.” Ellison will be in contention, but at the HM Plant Honda’s home circuit, expect to see Karl Muggeridge setting a good pace as he builds on his debut performances with the team in the previous round at Brands Hatch. John McGuinness, Honda’s Isle of Man TT hero, rides their second bike with the Fireblade threat increased as Flying Scot Stuart Easton chases maiden victory in the top flight in his game of catch-up with Ellison for second place in the standings. Easton’s team-mate Karl Harris is also long overdue a podium finish. That is also the case for Chris Walker aboard the Motorpoint Henderson Yamaha while Simon Andrews is expected to return from injury to spearhead the MSS Colchester Kawasaki attack, alongside Julien da Costa, with John Lavery and Tristan Palmer riding similar machines in Buildbase colours. Gary Mason, aboard the Quay Garage Honda, intends to take another step towards securing the Mirror.co.uk Cup, but will be under pressure from both Martin Jessopp on the Riders Racing Honda and local ace Peter Hickman on the Ultimate Racing Yamaha.
