Motorpoint British Supersport contenders set for Donington Park opener

The Motorpoint British Supersport Championship gets underway at Donington Park this weekend (4/5/6 April) with 35 riders lining up for the opening round of the season.

The Smiths Racing Triumph team return after lifting the title last season with Billy McConnell, but as the Australian progresses to MCE BSB, Jake Dixon (Dover) heads the line-up after Graeme Gowland suffered a broken femur in pre-season testing. Taking up the second position in the team for the opening round is TV and TT star Guy Martin (Grimsby).

Gearlink Kawasaki have come close to lifting the title in previous seasons, but they hunt for more in 2015 with the returning Ben Wilson (Boston) and Glenn Irwin (Carrickfergus).

Keith Flint’s Team Traction Control returns with a two-strong rider line-up as American James Rispoli lines up for a second campaign with the team after scoring his first podium finish last season. He is joined in the team by Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship runner-up Andy Reid (Belfast) who makes his class debut.

Appleyard Macadam Racing have their two-pronged rider line-up of former GP contender Danny Webb (Tunbridge Wells) and Harry Hartley (Burnley) and Alex Lund in the Evo class.

Luke Stapleford (Sinope) and Sam Hornsey (Bucknell) will be gunning for honours with Profile Racing, whilst young contender Kyle Ryde (Jacksdale) steps up to the Supersport class with PacedayZ Trackdays.

In the Evo class the competition is set to be fierce with Joe Collier (Donington Le Heath), Bjorn Estment (South Africa), Freddy Pett (Kings Lynn), and Josh Daley (Cirencester).
