AMA Supersport Championship leader Jamie Hacking led Saturday morning Supersport practice at Virginia International Raceway with a time of 1:27.287 on his factory Yamaha YZF-R6. Yoshimura Suzuki’s Ben Spies did not ride during the session. Spies broke his right hand in a crash during AMA Superbike qualifying Friday. 16-year-old New Englander Shane Narbonne came to VIR to make his AMA debut on his DASPerformance.com Suzuki GSX-R600 in Supersport and Formula Xtreme. Last night, Narbonne struck a deal to ride the Safety First Suzuki vacated by Chris “Opie” Caylor. Graves Yamaha’s Josh Herrin crashed in turn three during the practice session.
