Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking led the final AMA Supersport practice Thursday at Daytona International Speedway. Riding his Dunlop-equipped ZX-6R, Hacking turned a lap of 1:41.853, nearly equaling his pole-position qualifying time of 1:41.802. After ending his session early, Hacking said changes to his chassis gave him more grip, allowing him to lap as quickly on a race-compound tire as he did on a qualifying tire Wednesday. Missing from the Thursday morning Supersport practice time sheet was Celtic Racing’s Chaz Davies. According to Celtic Racing Team Owner Barry Gilsenan, Davies started the session without a timing transponder on his Yamaha YZF-R6, pitted to make chassis changes, returned to the track with a transponder on his bike and then crashed in turn one at the start of his next flying lap. “He’s in the infield care center,” Gilsenan told Roadracingworld.com. “I spoke with him. He’s OK. They’re just doing some precautionary X-rays.” Gilsenan said Davies did not know why he crashed.
